First edition, non laminated, top-open cover. German copyright date (for Sweden): June 22, 1956. RCA did not begin to distribute their records in Germany until October 12, 1956. |
The first German Elvis EP was actually a custom pressing for Grammofon AB Electra in Sweden. The record was ordered in June but did not arrive to Stockholm until October 29. The labels must have been printed in June or July, as the Electra label was discontinued in August. With only 300 copies made, this record is ultra rare! |
First regular pressing, December 1956 - March 1957 (s2). This was the first German pressing for the German market. The same cover as for the Swedish Grammofon AB Electra release was used for this first German edition. |
Second edition, fully laminated, top-open cover, black RCA label (s3) with lines and silver triangle, April 1957 to early 1958. |
Third edition, fully laminated, side-open cover, black RCA label (s3) with lines and silver triangle, spring 1958. Note that the title has moved below the triangle. Cover printed by Hartung Druck, Hamburg. |
Extremely rare edition for US staff stationed in West Germany. The cover is printed on hard paper, to look like the US edition, including the RCA Victor "Nipper-dog" trademark, which was not allowed for RCA to use in Europe, where it belonged to His Master's Voice (HMV). The lack of top banner and EPA number in the logo box, helps you distinguish it from a regular US issue. PX item K 901 628, price: $0.85, dated December 1958. |
Fifth pressing on black RCA label with silver triangle, September 1958 to August 1960 (s5). |
Tenth edition (1966-67). |
Tenth pressing on the third RCA Victor (v3) label (1966-67). This record was deleted on December 12, 1967. |
